National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions announced the addition of the Charaidew II to its chartered fleet, scheduled to offer two departures in India in 2026.
The newly chartered 17-cabin ship was specially designed to navigate the Brahmaputra River, featuring an extra-shallow draught and a low profile, enabling it to sail further upstream than other vessels.
The new itineraries, departing in March 2026, offer two distinct journeys through India. The 18-day India by Land and River: Taj Mahal, Safaris and the Brahmaputra voyage combines northern India’s landmarks, such as the Taj Mahal and Agra’s Red Fort, with the lesser-visited Assam region and wildlife reserves. Highlights include exploring UNESCO sites like Kaziranga National Park, jeep safaris to spot rare wildlife such as Asian one-horned rhinoceroses and Royal Bengal tigers, and experiencing Kolkata’s vibrant culture. Prices start at $20,655 per person.
For a shorter option, the 11-day India Expedition: Kolkata, Kaziranga and the Brahmaputra River itinerary explores eastern India. Travelers navigate the Brahmaputra River, visit Kaziranga National Park and discover Kolkata’s historic and cultural treasures, including its flower markets and Mother Teresa’s charity center. Prices start at $11,320 per person.
