Steven Shelton has been appointed vice president of facilities optimization at the Canaveral Port Authority, according to a press release.

With over 15 years of experience in facilities management at leading hotels and resorts, Shelton will oversee the Port’s maintenance program, including systems and equipment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security, fire protection, and fleet maintenance, collaborating with internal teams and regulatory agencies.

 “Port Canaveral has a never-ending commitment to enhancing every aspect of our operations and that includes our facilities, grounds, terminals, parks and so much more,” said Captain John Murray, CEO of the Canaveral Port Authority. “Steve’s wide-ranging hospitality-focused experience brings a fresh new perspective to our operations, enabling us to take our facilities management to the next level as we build upon our leadership position in the industry.”

Shelton brings extensive experience in facilities management, having held multiple leadership roles over the years. Most recently, he was Vice President of Facilities for Fontainebleau Resorts in Miami Beach, where he managed multiple hotels, nightclubs and recreational venues. Shelton has also served as Director of Engineering at the Diplomat Resort and Spa, Hilton Worldwide, and Key Bridge Marriott, overseeing engineering and capital improvement projects at properties across several U.S. cities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and an Associate of Science in Civil Engineering from Ferris State University.
