Adora Cruises held a ceremony to mark the start of its first long voyage, the “Maritime Silk Road Discovery Journey.”
According to a press release, the celebration took place at the Xiamen International Cruise Terminal in South China, from which the Adora Mediterranea sailed for the cruise on Dec. 6, 2024.
With over 2,600 passengers onboard, the ship is now offering a 13-day cruise that sails to five destinations in Southeast Asia.
Before arriving in Guangzhou, China, the cruise is scheduled to visit Phu My, Singapore, Malacca, Kota Kinabalu and Manila.
As part of the cruise, in addition to its signature onboard offerings, the Mediterranea will feature cultural heritage acts and comedy shows by members of the Tianjin Comedy Troupe.
Guests will have the opportunity to deeply experience the unique culture, customs and natural beauty of Southeast Asia, Adora said.
During the ceremony, the company also announced plans to offer a second “Maritime Silk Road Discovery Journey” cruise in April 2025, as well as cooperation with the Xiamen Port Authority and Xiamen International Cruise Terminal.
According to Adora, the strategic deal aims to transform Xiamen into a cruise hub while further solidifying its deployments at the port.
“The Adora Mediterranea’s ‘Maritime Silk Road Discovery Journey’ meets the diverse demands of tourists for quality, in-depth and cultural travel, and has received strong market response,” Adora Cruises said.
“We will continue to adhere to our commitment to the Chinese market and serve Chinese consumers, providing guests with an exceptional cruise experience,” the company added.
“Xiamen boasts unique geographical advantages, serving as a crucial hub for the development of China’s cruise market and a long-term strategic market for Adora Cruises in the south.”
The company’s collaboration with Xiamen is a win-win situation, Adora said, and includes not only deployment but also supplying, training and cultural efforts.
