Vasco da Gama Sails on Nicko’s 148-Night World Cruise

Vasco Da Gama

The Vasco da Gama sailed from Greece in late October to kick off Nicko Cruises’ 2024-25 Grand World Cruise.

Cruising between Heraklion and Santa Cruz de Tenerife in Spain, the 148-day voyage features visits to nearly 65 destinations in 26 countries and territories.

According to Nicko, the itinerary is divided into eight shorter, distinct segments, which can be booked separately.

Each part of the cruise was designed to include bucket-list destinations in a “slow-cruising style,” the company added.

After sailing from Heraklion, the cruise included visits to destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean before arriving in the Middle East.

The voyage then continued with stops in Dubai, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Currently sailing in Southeast Asia, the Vasco da Gama is set to visit Singapore soon before continuing its cruise in the South Pacific.

On its way to Australia, the journey includes destinations in Papua New Guinea, Fiji and French Polynesia, such as Bora Bora and Tahiti.

The Vasco da Gama makes its way back to Europe via South America and Cape Horn, visiting destinations in Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.

After also sailing to various destinations in Brazil, the 1,270-guest vessel is set to cross the Atlantic for visits to Cape Verde before arriving in the Canary Islands.

In addition to eight individual segments, Nicko’s world cruise is also available as a 110-night voyage, which will sail from Singapore on Nov. 30, 2024.

Following the same itinerary as the longer voyage, the Compact World Cruise features visits to 46 destinations in 19 countries.

After a summer program in Europe, the Vasco da Gama is set to offer another global voyage for the 2025-26 winter season.

Sailing roundtrip from Hamburg in Germany, the 175-night cruise will feature visits to 91 ports in 42 countries.

The itinerary sails to the Atlantic, the Caribbean, Central America, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
