The Port of San Juan recently welcomed maiden calls from the Ilma and the Sun Princess, according to a press release.
Princess Cruises’ newest ship arrived on November 19, 2024. The Sun Princess is set to make five extended calls this season, each featuring 12-hour stops to explore Puerto Rico’s attractions. The ship will bring approximately 122,000 passengers to the island through 34 calls, contributing over $1.7 million in economic impact, according to a press release. Homeport operations in San Juan are also planned to resume in 2026.
The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s Ilma visited on November 20, 2024, following its Mediterranean season. The vessel will operate 11 departures from San Juan between November 2024 and March 2025, contributing an estimated $1.7 million to the local economy.
Both ships were welcomed with official ceremonies, where government representatives, San Juan Cruise Port executives, and tourism industry leaders presented commemorative plaques to the captains and crews.
