Ambassador Cruise Line announced three new entertainment initiatives set to launch in the coming months, according to a press release.

The initiatives include a themed “Back to the 80s” sailing on the Benelux Coastal Explorer next May; a new rock and roll-inspired theater show called Retro Rock Rebellion, and a playwriting competition to discover emerging literary talent in the UK.

The “Back to the 80s” voyage, part of the Benelux Coastal Explorer itinerary, will depart from London Cruise Terminal at Tilbury on May 1, 2025. This four-night cruise aboard the Ambience will relive the 1980s with activities such as themed cabaret shows, nostalgic menus, fancy-dress competitions and workout classes inspired by the era. The entertainment lineup features performances by Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston of The Fizz, along with Toyah Wilcox. Destinations include Zeebrugge, Belgium, and Ijmuiden, Netherlands. Prices start at £539 per person for Saver Fares.

Launching in December 2024, the Retro Rock Rebellion will bring an immersive rock and roll experience to the Ambition. Set in an American biker bar, the show will feature aspiring rock stars showcasing their talents.

The Ambassador PEEL Playwriting Challenge 2025, in collaboration with PEEL Entertainment Group, opens for submissions on January 15, 2025. The competition invites experienced and emerging playwrights to submit their original works for the chance to have their play staged onboard as part of Ambassador’s Theatre@Sea program. Shortlisted playwrights will see their scripts brought to life onboard an Ambassador ship while the winner will receive a £6,000 cash prize and a complimentary cruise for two in 2026. Entries close on April 4, 2025. The winner will be announced in December 2025.
