The Brazilian port of Itajaí is expecting 85 cruise calls through April 2026, the local government announced in a press release.
As it gets ready to kick off its 2024-25 season in December, the city said that over 350,000 guests are currently projected to visit Itajaí in the next 18 months.
While 39 calls and nearly 155,000 passengers are expected for the upcoming season, the town is expecting another 46 calls and over 195,000 guests in 2025-26.
“We have upheld our commitment to the development of tourism in our city, and as a result, we made adjustments to ensure that these calls are confirmed for the year,” said Thiago Morastoni, the Secretary of Tourism and Events of Itajaí.
Serving as a departure port for Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises, Itajaí will receive three ships on a regular basis during the 2024-25 season.
The MSC Armonia will be the first to arrive, offering three- to seven-night cruises from the port starting in mid-December.
Returning to Itajaí after a two-year gap, the Costa Diadema is scheduled to arrive in late December for seven-night cruises to Argentina and Uruguay that also make a visit to the Brazilian port Santos.
Set to become the largest ship ever to sail from the port, the MSC Splendida arrives in early February.
Taking over Armonia’s schedule, the ship offers seven-night cruises to ports in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil through March.
“We are in constant contact with the Federal Police, the Port Authority, Health Surveillance, and other authorities to ensure the efficiency of the boarding and disembarking processes, providing greater convenience and allowing visitors more time to enjoy the attractions of our city,” added Morastoni.
In addition to homeporting operations, Itajaí will also receive transit calls during the 2024-25 season, with ships from Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises scheduled to visit the town.
For 2025-26, MSC Cruises recently announced plans to deploy the MSC Lirica and the MSC Preziosa in Itajaí.
