The global cruise industry will see the addition of over 170,000 new berths across between now and 2036, according to the recently updated cruise ship orderbook published by Cruise Industry News.
The orderbook to open September is valued at $57 billion, with each ship averaging just over 2,500 guests.
Among recent additions are a fourth Icon class ship for Royal Caribbean International set to debut after her delivery from Meyer Turku in 2027. The company is set to debut one megaship with over 5,000 berths annually between 2025 and 2028.

Another big move came from Disney Cruise Line, which ordered four ships in August from shipbuilding partner Meyer Werft with deliveries scheduled for between 2027 and 2031.
The current orderbook totals some 67 ocean-going ships, with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings having the biggest plans of any of the large cruise operators, with 13 ships coming and a value of $15 billion. The newbuilds will all be constructed at Fincantieri in Italy and cover the company’s trio of cruise brands with Norwegian serving the contemporary market, Oceania the premium market and Regent in the ultra-luxury space.
