After affecting Carnival Cruise Line ships sailing from Jacksonville and Tampa, Tropical Storm Debby is now delaying the operations of the Carnival Sunshine in Charleston.

Returning from a five-night cruise to the Bahamas on Thursday, the vessel is expected to arrive back at its homeport several hours later than scheduled.

According to an update shared by the company, the Sunshine will dock in Charleston in the early afternoon.

“Our Fleet Operations Center in Miami continues to actively monitor Debby, which is currently impacting The Carolinas. The safety of our crew is our priority, and our ships will maintain a safe distance from the storm,” Carnival said in a statement.

While its arrival in Charleston will be delayed, the ship’s upcoming cruise is set to be operated as scheduled, the company added.

“We plan to operate this voyage as scheduled, with modified embarkation plans. Given the ship’s delayed return to Charleston, guests are being asked to delay their terminal arrival appointments by seven hours,” Carnival explained, noting that all guests must be onboard by 9:30 PM.

The Carnival Sunshine is set to offer a four-night cruise to the Bahamas that features a visit to Nassau on Aug. 10, as well as two days at sea.

After making landfall in Florida as a hurricane earlier this week, Debby also impacted the operations of the Carnival Paradise and the Carnival Elation.

With the port closed for ship traffic, the Paradise had to delay its return to Tampa, docking one day later than initially scheduled.

Sailing from Jacksonville, the Carnival Elation was yet another vessel impacted by Debby, having arrived at its homeport one day earlier than initially scheduled to avoid the worst of the storm.

Another cruise ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Islander, also saw its return to Tampa delayed due to the tropical storm.
