The Crystal Serenity will be equipped with a shore power connection before debuting in Southern California in early 2024.
According to a statement issued by Crystal Cruises, work is already underway to add the feature to the 2003-built cruise ship.
“As Crystal continues to improve its environmental footprint and help reduce emissions, we are happy to report that the Crystal Serenity is being fit with equipment that will enable the vessel to connect to shore power systems while docked,” the company said.
“We are working diligently to have this ready four our first call in Southern California,” the luxury cruise line added.
Following a series of itineraries in the Caribbean and Central America, the Crystal Serenity is scheduled to arrive in the region in February 2024.

After the work, the Crystal Serenity is set to relaunch service for its new owners on July 31.
With capacity reduced to 740 guests, the vessel will offer a short summer program in Europe before repositioning to North America.
Following a series of itineraries in Canada and New England, the Serenity repositions to the Caribbean, sailing different itineraries in the region, as well as in Central America and the Panama Canal.
Also acquired by the A&K Travel Group, the Crystal Symphony is debuting for the new Crystal Cruises on September 1.
Like its fleet mate, the 1995-built vessel is undergoing a major refit in Italy before welcoming guests back for a series of itineraries in the Mediterranean and Asia.
