Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced that culinary specialist Mara Papatheodorou will be featured as a “Gastronomic Guest” on select Epicurean Expeditions in 2023.
“Our new Epicurean Expeditions provide an immersive culinary experience for explorers who enjoy food and wine,” said James Rodriguez, the line’s president and CEO.
“Mara is a ‘Master Foodie™’ and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Atlas Ocean Voyages family.”
Papatheodorou will be on the World Navigator on eight departures this summer: May 29; June 1, 4, 17 and 30; and July 10, 19, and 28.
Papatheodorou was an editor for Bon Appetit magazine for 12 years and she produced the “Entertaining with Style” section. She was also the producer of their Special Collector’s Editions that feature Italy, France, Greece, Spain, Mediterranean islands and the British Isles.
Papatheodorou develops recipes, menus and creates promotional campaigns. Additionally, she also creates custom-designed food and wine-tasting events. Previously, she had also worked as as a columnist for the European edition of W and Harpers & Queen. Papatheodorou is also the author of the book “Moments in Time, the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa” and a contributor to National Geographic Traveler magazine. She studied at the Sorbonne University and La Varenne Cooking School in France.
“It is very exciting to be a part of Atlas’ inaugural Epicurean Expeditions team,” said Papatheodorou.
“I can’t think of a more appropriate place to share the facts, flavors, flair and folklore of Mediterranean cuisine and culture than cruising these storied ports aboard a luxurious yacht.”
The 2023 Epicurean Expeditions have been designed for guests who are also food and wine enthusiasts. For a limited time, Atlas is rewarding guests with two free culinary or wine-themed shore excursions on the April 15, April 22 and April 29 departures.
