American Cruise Lines to Open Biggest Mississippi Season Yet

Modern Riverboat on Mississippi

American Cruise Lines is opening the biggest season yet on the Mississippi River in March 2023, according to a press release.

The cruise line is introducing its new riverboat, the American Serenade, a new eight-day Tennessee Rivers itinerary between Nashville and Chattanooga as well as a number of new shore excursions and adventures.

From March through December 2023, American Cruise Lines will operate five riverboats and over 11 itineraries exploring the Mississippi River from St. Paul, Minnesota, to New Orleans, Louisiana.

The American Serenade will make its debut on April 20, sailing from New Orleans to Memphis on its eight-day christening cruise. The ship will be joined on the Mississippi this season by the American Melody, American Symphony, American Heritage and American Splendor.

Along the new eight-day Tennessee Rivers itinerary travelers will sail between Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee, with stops in: Decatur, AL; Florence, AL; Savannah, TN; Paducah, TN; and cruising Lake Barkley. Additionally, guests can enjoy the less traveled Mississippi routes on the eight-day Music Cities cruises, exploring Mississippi and Cumberland Rivers between Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee, with calls in: Clarksville, Tennessee; Dover, Tennessee; Paducah, Kentucky; and Memphis, Tennessee.

The cruise line will continue to operate the longest U.S. River cruise, their 22-day Complete Mississippi River cruise visiting a total of 10 states. Guests can book this cruise on the American Symphony in June, and aboard the American Serenade in August 2023.

American has also added a variety of excursions to the 2023 Mississippi Season as well as new culinary and shore experiences such as the Lee County Agritourism Experience, the Mark Twain Cave Exploration & Wine Tasting, or the Natchez Trails to Tamales Experience.

Each of the 2023 Mississippi River cruises includes a one-night complimentary hotel stay in every departure port, plus pre-cruise packages including a two-night Graceland Package in Memphis, a two-night Grand Ole Opry Package in Nashville and Four Seasons hotel pre-cruise Packages for select cities.

The season will end with American’s festive holiday cruises including Thanksgiving cruises to Christmas and New Year’s cruises.
