ALMACO announced that it delivered laundry and catering areas for the MSC World Europa, reaching a milestone with the first laundry delivery and the biggest catering delivery in the history of the company.

ALMACO was contracted by Chantiers de l’Atlantique and MSC Cruises in December 2018 to equip the new ship, MSC World Europa, the first ship of the World-class series, with catering and laundry solutions. ALMACO began work on the project in January 2021. The work was completed on October 24, 2022.

For the catering area, ALMACO was in charge of delivering all of the equipment to all catering areas which include 12 galleys and 58 pantries covering more than 5,000 m2. The project also included providing equipment for 46 provision stores totaling 2,150 m2.

The delivery of the laundry area on the MSC World Europa entailed equipment delivery, installation, and commissioning of all laundry equipment and areas. The laundry system is provided by Spanish Girbau and it relies on the latest technology which enables automatization. ALMACO integrated this laundry system into the ship’s water recycling technology to purify the wastewater.

Vincent Querard, ALMACO’s project manager said: “We have had excellent cooperation with Chantiers de L’Atlantique for many years. Although we have had galley and refrigeration machinery projects together before, most of our projects have consisted of provision store areas.

“So, we are thrilled to have the privilege to work with them on a full catering and laundry area scope this time. As expected, the work and collaboration were successful throughout the project.”
