A Look at Norwegian Prima’s 2023 Deployment

After entering service for Norwegian Cruise Line last August, the new Norwegian Prima is offering its first full-year program in 2023.

Cruise Industry News took a closer look at the ship’s deployment, which includes itineraries in the Caribbean, the U.S. Northeast and Europe.

Seven-Night Western Caribbean
Date: 11 departures between January and March 2023
Length: Seven nights
Homeport: Port Canaveral (United States)
Complete Itinerary: Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas); Ocho Rios (Jamaica); Cozumel (Mexico); and George Town (Cayman Islands)

The Norwegian Prima is currently offering a series of seven-night cruises to the Western Caribbean. Sailing from Port Canaveral every Sunday, the itinerary includes visits to popular ports in Jamaica, Mexico, the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas, including Ocho Rios, Cozumel and George Town.

Part of the ship’s 2022-2023 winter season, the cruise is set to be repeated through late March – when the Prima repositions to New York City.

New York to Bermuda
Dates: Four departures in April 2023
Length: Seven nights
Homeport: New York City (United States)
Complete Itinerary: Three days at King’s Wharf (Bermuda)

After arriving in New York City in early April, the Norwegian Prima is set to offer five- to seven-night cruises to Bermuda through mid-May.

Set to be repeated four times, this week-long itinerary sails roundtrip from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and includes a three-day visit to King’s Wharf, in addition to four full days at sea. In May, the also vessel offers a similar seven-night cruise that swaps a day at sea with a visit to Norfolk.

11-Night Transatlantic to Iceland
Date: May 14, 2023
Length: 11 nights
Homeports: New York City (United States) to Reykjavik (Iceland)
Complete Itinerary: Halifax and Sydney (Canada); Isafjordur and Akureyri (Iceland)

After completing its Northeast program, the Norwegian Prima repositions to Europe with a 11-night transatlantic crossing. Sailing from New York City to Reykjavik, the voyage visits four ports in Canada and Iceland.

In addition to Halifax and Sydney, the itinerary sails to Isafjordur and Akureyri and also includes five full days at sea.

Northern Europe with Iceland and Norway
Dates: Five departures between June and August
Length: 11 nights
Homeports: Southampton (England) to Reykjavik (Iceland)
Complete Itinerary: Isafjordur and Akureyri (Iceland); Alesund, Geiranger and Bergen (Norway); Amsterdam (Netherlands); and Zeebrugge (Belgium)

Once in Northern Europe, the Norwegian Prima kicks off a series of itineraries across the region that include ports of call in countries such as Iceland, England, Norway and Belgium.

Set to be repeated five times during the summer, this 11-night itinerary sails from Southampton to Reykjavik and features visits to popular destinations in the region, including Akureyri, Bergen and Zeebrugge.

Ten Nights in the Mediterranean
Dates: November 1, 2023
Length: 10 nights
Homeports: Barcelona (Spain) to Civitavecchia (Italy)
Complete Itinerary: Valencia, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca (Spain); Marseille and Cannes (France); Genoa, Livorno and Salerno (Italy)

Before returning to North America, the Norwegian Prima is also set to offer a short fall season in the Mediterranean.

The program includes four departures in the region, including this ten-night cruise in early November. Sailing from Barcelona to Civitavecchia, the open-jaw voyage features visits to eight ports across Spain, France and Italy.

Western Caribbean from Galveston
Dates: Three departures in December 2023
Length: Seven nights
Homeport: Galveston (United States)
Complete Itinerary: Cozumel and Costa Maya (Mexico); Harvest Caye (Belize); Roatán (Honduras)

Completing its first full year in service, the Norwegian Prima arrives in Galveston in December. Sailing from the Texas homeport during the entire 2023-2024 winter season, the vessel will offer a series of itineraries to the Western Caribbean.

Visiting Mexico, Honduras and Belize, the ship’s regular itinerary features stops at Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán and Harvest Caye.
