P&O Cruises Australia Appoints Deborah Cogin as VP of Guest Experience

Deborah Cogin

P&O Cruises Australia announced that it has appointed Deborah Cogin as vice president of guest experience hotel operations, according to a press statement.

“Joining P&O Cruises has been one of the most dynamic and satisfying times in my career to date, I feel completely at home,” said Cogin.

“The team at P&O has been the highlight – both ship and shore. I’m really enjoying their stories, insights and humble achievements and really inspired by their commitment and enthusiasm.”

Cogin, who has a strong background in hotel operations and tourism, joined the team from Sydney’s Bridgeclimb. She replaced Thomas Karlsson who is returning to Europe for a new role within the Group at Carnival UK.

Cogin said that her focus will be on ensuring her team is confident to deliver a guest experience that leaves a lasting positive impression that surpasses expectations and delivers commercially.

Cogin already has her favorite place onboard.

“I absolutely love ‘Sail Away’ when the teams and guests come together to celebrate, it’s electric. Avalon Café is my go-to every morning to see our wonderful baristas working tirelessly and greeting our guests with a warm and welcoming smile, a great way to start the day on board.”

Cogin also revealed how she deals with stress in the industry and said: “Laughter is key and seeing the upside in most situations. We work in a fun industry that requires intense focus and energy, so staying balanced is key. It’s a great industry where we get to craft unique guest experiences that last a lifetime, now that’s motivating!”

Cogin said she is bringing ruthless prioritization to P&O cruises: “There’s much to do and not enough hours in the day!”
