Celebrity Xpedition Runs Aground in the Galapagos

The Celebrity Xpedition has run aground in the Galapagos as the the company reported no injuries with 46 guests and crew aboard on Tuesday.

Guests and non-essential crew were evacuated to a nearby vessel as a precautionary measure, according to a company statement.

Plans then call for them to be picked up by the new 100-guest Celebrity Flora, which also sails year-round in the region.

The company said in a prepared statement that it was unaware of any environmental impact but would continue to check closely. An update on the ship’s condition is expected shortly.
