Chantiers de l’Atlantique to Get New Gantry Crain

Chantiers de l’Atlantique will equip itself with a new gantry with a total lifting capacity of 1050 metric tons.

It will replace the current 750-ton gantry crane that has served the company since 1968 and is getting obsolete, according to a statement.

Being almost 10 meters higher than the current gantry crane, the new gantry will allow the installation of all the superstructure elements of large cruise ships. Until now these operations were carried out using leased cranes.

The new gantry will complementthe 1400-ton Very Large Gantry, whose use will be maximized for the installation of mega blocks.

Representing a total investment of around 35 million euros, the new gantry crane is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2022, after the dismantling of the old gantry crane between August and October 2021.
