Three cruises aboard the Carnival Fascination are cancelled, according to a statement from the Miami-based cruise line.
Carnival said the ship is currently prepared to dock in San Juan this weekend, if the port re-opens following extensive damage from Hurricane Maria. The ship will then sail to Miami, calling on Tuesday and overnighting to disembark passengers.
Carnival said it would take weeks to repair extensive damage to the cruise terminal in San Juan, and is thus cancelling Sept. 24, Oct. 1 and Oct. 8 departures on the Fascination. These cruises also were set to sail on Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 from Barbados, and those departures have also been cancelled.
Royal Caribbean is in a similar situation with the Adventure of the Seas, and has delayed an upcoming sailing from San Juan.
The company said on its website it is adjusting the next sailing, down to three nights, tentatively leaving San Juan on Sept. 27 and sailing to Antigua and St. Kitts.
And also, due to the track of Hurricane Maria, Royal Caribbean has adjusted the Sept. 23 sailing for the Anthem of the Seas, going to Canada/New England as opposed to Bermuda. Calls include Halifax and Portland. Guests will get a 50 percent refund in the form of a refundable onboard credit.
