The Passenger Ship Sustainability conference, taking place 14 – 15 November 2017 in Southampton, UK, will continue the debate on LNG as a solution for low emission shipping, exploring key projects and case studies helping to drive investment, according to a statement.

The meeting’s opening keynote address from Tom Strang, Senior Vice President Maritime Affairs, Carnival Corporation will outline Carnival’s environmental strategy: What we are doing and why? This keynote address will provide the industry with an overview of Carnival’s roadmap to LNG, which includes a newbuild overview and a unique insight into how the operator is striving for greater infrastructure, scrubber installation across retrofits, current energy savings and future projects.

Yves Bui, LNG Project Director from MSC Cruise Management will demonstrate during the meeting how MSC Cruises are investing in LNG technology, including the planned delivery of LNG vessels with STX France. Delegates will also hear Mr Bui share the unique challenges and solutions for MSC Cruise ships refuelling in port during the meeting.

Passenger Ship Sustainability 2017 will also provide a forum for the industry to discover how Port de Barcelona’s investment in LNG infrastructure is creating a supply chain and building up port infrastructure to meet bunkering requirements. as well as a unique insight into future projects to lower emissions and drive efficiency.

Delegates will also hear case studies from Port of Helsinki, DFDS, Lloyd’s Register, Peace Boat, SEA Europe, University of Turku and Wightlink covering topics including; Air Pollution, Ballast Water Convention, Sulphur Regulation, Ship Design, Next Generation Engines, Propulsion Systems, and Energy Management to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency.
