In Spain, Tarragona has 50 calls booked for the 2018 cruise season, up from just 40 this year, according to a port spokesperson.
This year the port will introduce interporting, which started with a call from Pullmantur’s Horizon on April 25. That will be followed by 17 visits from the Costa neoRiviera during the summer season.
“This opens a new business for Tarragona, not only as a port of call, but now as a homeport,” the spokesperson told Cruise Industry News.
Government officials are planning a new cruise berth with a larger footprint in time for the 2020 cruise season. Another growth agenda item has been attracting winter calls, but those may be few and far between in the Mediterranean.
