Helsingborg is a classic port city, dating back some 900 years, but has been modernized for today’s cruise passengers, with over 200 free public WiFi spots available.

The Swedish port will receive six ships this year, but a spokesperson said there were only two calls scheduled for 2018, although the port hopes to grab a couple late bookings to improve the number.

The spokesperson said it was a safe and reliable region, with a solid weather season spanning from April to October.

The destination is unique in service two countries as Helsingborg is located exactly where the Öresund Strait is at its narrowest. This makes Elsinore, Denmark a nearby town with history dating back to the Vikings. The port is nearby Copenhagen, and ships leaving the Danish capital can sail slowly, arriving in Helsingborg in just two hours.

With its maritime history and strategic locale, there is no shortage of berths. At the city berth in the heart of the city, small ships up to 150 meters can dock. The so-called prime berth is 10 minutes away from the city center and can take ships up to 250 meters in length. Larger vessels can anchor at a close-by anchorage and tender in.
