Following the commission of not one, but three new cruise ship quays in the Port of Sete, cruise calls have skyrocketed.
“Thanks to the new berths, the cruise activity is booming,” said Catherine Lafon, cruise port promotion. “But there is room for progression and we hope that can continue growing. Even though we are not yet a ‘marquee’ port we are a ‘marquee’ destination.”
Lafon told Cruise Industry News that the port is well positioned for niche ships, with a terminal in the heart of town.
2017 is looking very good with 46 calls, up 28 percent, and 45,000 passengers, up 89 percent.
Sixty-eight calls are already scheduled for 2018 with an estimated six-figure passenger number, above 2017 totals.
