The port of Rostock is in the middle of a strong cruise season, with 190 port calls scheduled by 36 ships on 112 different days. The season started on April 27 in Warnemünde with the AIDAdiva calling.
According to Christian Hardt, head of cruise shipping for the port, first time callers will include the CMV Columbus, MSC Magnifica, Norwegian Getaway, Viking Sky and Regent’s Seven Seas Explorer.
Sixty-one calls will be either complete or partial turn-arounds. There will also be three four-ship days and 13 three-ship days. The season ends on October 12 when the Balmoral calls.
2018 is trending about the same, according to Hardt. He said the port offered discounts for winter calls but there were no takers to date. Among other plans is a new terminal, in the planning stages and aimed at opening in 2020.
