Ann Sherry Marks 10 Years in Cruise Industry

Carnival Australia Executive Chairman Ann Sherry today congratulated her team for their decade of achievement during her ten years at the helm of Australia’s leading cruise company, according to a company statement.

Today’s acknowledgement of Sherry’s contribution took place at a special staff morning tea which are customarily devoted to honoring staff achievements and the presentation of length-of service certificates. Sherry was presented with her 10-year certificate.

In thanking the Carnival Australia team, Sherry said: “Nothing that we have done could have been achieved by one person. This is the celebration of a great team and collective congratulations. I couldn’t have done anything without your commitment and your good humor. Your contribution has helped make Australia the third highest source market in the world and that is quite an achievement.”

Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group, of which Carnival Australia is part within Carnival Corporation, added the recognition from across the global organization of Ms Sherry’s decade of service.

“You came in at a time when there were challenges and you set forth to make the necessary changes setting a million Australian passengers a year as the milestone and reached the target years ahead of schedule,” Kruse said.

Jan Swartz, President Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia, spoke of Sherry’s passion and ideas in identifying the potential for cruising in Australia.

“You can take great credit in building such a strong team in Australia and in developing such a dynamic industry,” Swartz said. “On a personal note, as a woman in business you have been such an inspiration to me and to so many others.”
