Trump Administration Set to Roll Back Cuba Policy

U.S. cruise lines calling in Havana may soon be substituting ports as U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to make an announcement regarding the country’s position on its relationship with Cuba on Friday.

The news is expected in a speech on Friday in Miami, and NPR said the Trump would tighten restrictions on travel and trade that were loosened under former President Barack Obama.

“The move was confirmed by a congressional source with direct knowledge of the situation,” reported NPR.

Also, earlier this week U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Cuba “must begin to address human rights challenges,” and also noted that the loosening of restrictions had benefited the island’s government in violation of U.S. laws.
