Mexican Riviera and West Coat cruises are seeing a slight drop in capacity this year, following another slight drop last year, after big jumps in 2015 and 2014, according to the 2017 – 2018 Cruise Industry News Annual Report.

The traffic projection for this year is for 830,406 passengers, down 4 percent from 868,362 last year, which was down 4 percent from 909,200 in 2015.

In 2014, the passenger traffic was up 66 percent from 2013 and rose another 22 percent in 2015.

The all-time high came in 2008 with nearly 1.2 million passengers which subsequently fell as far as to 447,452 in 2013. due to the violence and crime reports coming out of Mexico. In 2014, the traffic had started to recover with 743,234 passengers.
