The 100-passenger National Geographic Quest is scheduled to enter service in July as repairs are progressing on schedule, according to a report by Justin Burnett in the South Whidbey Record.

The shipyard said the propeller and rudder were damaged. Those parts have since been removed, repaired and are just about ready to be re-installed in a drydock, according to the South Whidbey Record.

According to a statement from Lindblad Expeditions, the shipyard encountered issues during the ship launch, forcing the cancellation of the inaugural sailing and then two more sailings scheduled for July.

The ship is under construction at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders in Washington.

“The National Geographic Quest was in the process of launching from the shipyard into the sea, stern first. As she began to float, she slid from the launch ramp and one propeller and rudder were grounded and damaged. Divers and surveyors were engaged and it has become clear that full repair requires dry docking the ship to fully evaluate the extent of damage,” the company said, in a statement
