HNA Eyeing Major Cruise Line Acquisition

g src=”/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/hna_logo_web.jpg” alt=”HNA Group Logo” width=”250″ height=”167″ style=”margin: 5px; float: left;” />Chinese conglomerate HNA has been on a travel business acquisition spree in recent months, and rumors continue to circulate involving a major cruise company.

HNA agreed to purchase 16.8 percent of Dufry last week, the same week it agreed to buy a stake in Rio’s airport, the second busiest air hub in Brazil.

That adds to a portfolio that includes airlines and airports in mainland China as well as Singapore, plus 25 percent of Hilton Hotels.

Persistent rumors circulating in the cruise industry are continuing to heat up; could HNA be adding a major cruise company to its travel portfolio in the near future?

It would fit well into the company’s travel business, which has been based on growth by acquisition.

Better yet, there is already brand and operational experience, as HNA had its own cruise brand with the Henna in mainland China.
