Saga Ruby to be Scrapped in India

The Saga Ruby won’t make it back to service life as a cruise ship and hotel ship plans have also fallen through.

The 655-passenger ship is expected to make the trek from a military base in Thailand to a beach in India this week to be scrapped.

The technical management and crew onboard has already departed the ship.

The 1973-built ship launched as the Vistafjord for Norwegian America Line, and last cruised as the Saga Ruby in 2013 before being sold in January of 2014, with a promising future as a hotel ship in Burma.

That never happened, however, and the ship will see its life come to an end in India.
