Oosterdam Pulled from Med for Alaska Season

Another major cruise ship with a planned 2017 season in Europe is being moved back to North America, as Holland America Line’s Oosterdam is now deployed to Alaska for the 2017 summer.

The Oosterdam will join the company’s Alaska lineup sailing week-long cruises from the Port of Seattle.

The ship will be part of a seven-vessel deployment in Alaska for the Seattle-based cruise line, also including the Amsterdam, Eurodam, N. Amsterdam, Noordam, Volendam and Zaandam. The company also had seven ships in the Alaska market in 2016, including the Amsterdam, Maasdam, N. Amsterdam, Noordam, Voldendam, Westerdam and Zaandam.

The news follows Celebrity Cruises pulling the Equinox from the Mediterranean in 2017, and instead placing the ship in Miami on a Caribbean program.
