Ocean Gala Back on the Market

U.S . Shipbrokers has officially put the Ocean Gala (ex-Island Escape) back on the market following her charter to assist the refugee crisis in Sweden. The company is offering the vessel for sale or charter.

The Swedish Migration Board has decided not to use the ship to house migrants or workers, according to a statement, citing a major reduction in refugees arriving to the country.

The vessel is currently in Sweden and has recently completed its five-year survey with class society DNVGL.

Built in 1982 in France as a ferry, the ship was converted to cruise service in 1991 for Royal Caribbean and most recently sailed as the Island Escape for Thomson/Island Cruises.
