Crystal’s New Ocean-Going Ships Grow to 117,000 Tons

As Crystal Cruises firmed up its ship order at Lloyd Werft Group today, its first ocean-going newbuild ordered in more than a decade has put on some weight, going from a previously announced 100,000 tons to 117,000 tons.

The ship will keep the same passenger capacity, at 1,000 passengers double-occupancy, making it one of the most spacious in the industry.

In addition, as part of today’s order, Crystal added two river boats now totaling six), and also officially signed for its 100-passenger luxury yacht, set to debut in 2018.

While a prepared statement did make mention of three ocean-going ships, the current contract calls for the delivery of the first 117,000-ton built in 2019, and does not include the other two vessels.
