Grand Bahama Shipyard: 20 Drydocks Scheduled for 2016

Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited has 20 cruise vessels booked for 2016, according to a statement from the shipyard.

The first ship to enter drydock this year was Holland America’s Maasdam, which received a scrubber installation, overhaul of two thrusters, and refit of the port and starboard rudders. The Veendam and Prinsendamare are also scheduled for drydocks this year at Grand Bahama.

In late January the Liberty of the Seas drydocked at the yard. Cabins were added to its deck 12 structure, as well as the installation of a state of the art waterpark. On the technical side, azipods were overhauled, major tank conversions were performed, general repairs undertaken and a scrubber system installed.

The Azamara Journey also entered drydock mid January for a 14-day repair period that included an extensive interior refit. Later in 2016, the Jewel of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas will receive the same scope of work.

Carnival will drydock seven ships at the yard in 2016, including the Fantasy, Magic, Splendor, Triumph, Valor, Sunshine and Liberty.

Other scheduled ships include the P&O Adonia, Norwegian Dawn, Celebrity Summit, Coral Princess and MSC Divina.
