AIDA Cruises has named Captain Detlef Harms (60) the first master of the new AIDAprima, currently under construction at Mitsubishi and slated to sail her first cruise from Hamburg on April 30.
A native of Rostock, Harms was named a Captain by AIDA in 2007.
According to AIDA, the ship completed its latest sea trials successfully, including maneuverability tests, on Feb. 23.
The new generation ship will have dual-fuel engines (running on LNG in port), Azipod propulsion and utilize an air lubrication system to help reduce fuel consumption.
