New ships Ovation and the Harmony of the Seas, along with full year operations from Anthem and the return of the Empress on a short-cruise program, will propel Royal Caribbean International’s passenger capacity to extraordinary new heights for 2016, according to the 2016-2017 Cruise Industry News Annual Report.
Cruise Industry News expects Royal Caribbean’s capacity to increase some 13.4 percent, pushing it over 4 million passengers for the year and closing in on Carnival Cruise Line for biggest brand status.
The Caribbean remains the bread and butter of the line’s capacity graph, and Asia will account for some 20 percent, followed by the Mediterranean at 8.2 percent.
