Holland America Line’s Prinsendam called at Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe on Nov. 28 with 716 passengers aboard. A second call is scheduled for Dec. 26.

The Prinsendam in Basse-Terre

Basse-Terre is located on the southwest corner of Guadeloupe and is also the capital. It is the second largest city on Guadeloupe, after Pointe-a-Pitre, which is the main port, and close to the rainforest and the dormant Soufriere volcano, in addition to beaches, historical sites and banana farms.

Basse-Terre offers a pier for ships to come alongside, and being off the beaten tourist path, an authentic French Caribbean experience.
