Mobile, Alabama may finally be getting a homeported ship again as Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced that the city is in “final stages” of a contract negotiation with Carnival Cruise Line for future cruises sailing from the port.

He said that when the final contract is in place, it will be provided to the City Council for approval, which he expects by the end of the month.

Carnival last visited mobile regularly in October 2011.
