The Port of Cromarty Firth played host to the Britannia on July 9 for a 12 hour port call.

It was the largest cruise ship to call at Invergordon in the 2015 season and is under the command of Captain Paul Brown.

The Invergordon Music & Dance Group entertained passengers onboard in the evening on the Lido deck. The Dornoch Pipe Band played when the ship departsed

Iain Dunderdale, Cruise Development Manager said: “The arrival of Britain’s biggest cruise ship shows that the Port is an important gateway to the Highlands for thousands of visitors. Britannia will be a huge boost to the economy in this area.”

Bob Buskie, Chief Executive of Port of Cromarty Firth, also welcomed the news.

He said: “We are delighted that the Britannia is making its maiden call to Invergordon. This year we are welcoming some of the world’s newest and largest cruise ships coming into Port, making use of the deepwater that we have to offer and the easy access to iconic Highland tourism destinations. The maiden visit by Britannia is really good news for everyone.”

Britannia is one of 57 cruise ships expected in the Port during the 2015 season, which is running from March to October.  

The Cromarty Firth cruise sector will boost the local economy by £10 million approximately.
