Le Havre Celebrates UNESCO Anniversary

The City of Le Havre celebrated its 10th anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage site on July 15. Local residents were invited this morning to form the number 10. A website was also created to showcase the different sites of the city and to rebuild the history of the port.

The Port of Le Havre was established in 1517 by King Francis 1, but it was also the city’s modern architecture and trendsetting urbanism that helped it qualify as World Heritage site.

The Greater Le Havre Tourist Office operates the cruise terminal, coordinates the Cruise Club and is in charge of developing and promoting the cruise traffic.

The port has regular calls year-round from a broad range of cruise lines for transit and turnarounds. It is also a convenient repositioning port to Northern Europe and the Baltic in spring, and the Mediterranean and the Caribbean in the fall.
