Europa 2 Set for New Destinations in 2016-2017

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has rolled out an updated deployment offering through 2017, seeing the Europa 2 head to the Asia-Pacific, as well as add new cruises in North America.

For the first time, the Europa 2 will be visiting Oceania. In December 2016, the Europa 2 drops anchor off the coast of Fiji and New Caledonia. From there, the ship will continue to New Zealand and Australia, with stops in Auckland, Wellington, Burnie, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Middle and Hamilton Island and Sydney.

New ports also include Taiwan, Thailand and Cuba with stops in Santiago de Cuba, Cienfuegos, Isla de la Juventud and the capital, Havana.

In the far north, a new cruise goes from Greenland to Canada in August and September 2016, with stops in Nuuk/Greenland and Sisimiut/Greenland along with Disko Bay/Greenland, St. John’s/Newfoundland/Canada, Saguenay (La Baie)/Canada, Quebec/Canada and Montreal/Canada. In September 2016, the itinerary for two North American cruises take in destinations such as New York, Boston, Cape Cod, Charleston (South Carolina), Miami, Key West and New Orleans.

There is also a new sports program in the fitness area designed by Olympic champion Maria Holf-Riesch.

Hapag-Lloyd has added an art2sea cruise, where art will not only be exhibited on board but major events at the destinations are tied in for art lovers.

Among other news, Sabine Christiansen, a former German TV presenter and award-winning journalist, will present her exclusive talk-show format talk2christiansen onboard the Europa 2. She will welcome famous international politicians, Nobel Prize laureates, entrepreneurs, experts, best-selling authors and public figures to discuss contemporary issues, tailored to the respective cruise destination.

And in May 2016, the Europa 2 will set out on its first surprise cruise, with only the turnaround ports revealed (Istanbul and Piraeus). Where the ship stops along the route will be decided by the guests and captain, during the cruise.
