Following up on reports in October regarding Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri looking to purchase STX France, the French Finance Minister recently told reporters that there is in-fact an interest by an “Italian part(y)” for a portion of STX France.

Fincantieri could potentially take the place of STX, which owns two-thirds of the shipyard and recently offloaded its stake in STX Finland to Meyer Werft.

A Fincantieri buy-in would leave just two cruise-ship building yards in Europe with current orders – Fincantieri and STX France, as well Meyer and Meyer Turku (formerly STX Finland).
