Rockefeller Schedules a Second Cruise Safety Hearing

Senator Jay Rockefeller has set the date for a second hearing on his Cruise Passenger Protection Act, scheduled for Wednesday July 23 at 2:30 p.m. (Eastern).

Rockefeller has been outspoken and critical of the cruise lines since high profile incidents involving the Costa Concordia and Carnival Triumph.

His bill would grant the Dept. of Transportation oversight of the cruise business.

Last summer, Rockefeller ended his first hearing by promising to close cruise tax loopholes for the operating companies.
