Steiner Leisure has reported net income of $49.4 million, or $3.34 per share, on revenues of $855.5 million for the year ended Dec. 31, 2013, compared to net income of $53.1 million, or $3.53 per share, on revenues of $811.5 million for 2012.
While revenues were up year-over-year, so were costs of sales and products as well as operating expenses.
Steiner operates spas aboard 156 cruise ships, including 114 so-called spa ships and 40 non-spa ships.
The spa ships generated average weekly revenues of $61.089 compared to $49,953 for the non-spa ships. Each staff member generated revenues of $426 per day on the spa ships and $283 per day on the non-spa ships, compared to $438 and $284, respectively, in 2012.
By comparison, revenue per staff per day on a spa ship in 2006 was $483 and $311 on non-spa ships. That year, Steiner operated spas on 83 spa ships and 33 non spa ships.
Steiner also operates land spas and their average weekly revenue was $28,666.
In addition was revenue from schools and product sales.
