FTI Names V.Ships for Technical Management

FTI Cruises has announced that V.Ships Leisure is taking over the technical management and port operations of the Berlin.

The company said in a prepared statement that by outsourcing these operating departments to the world’s largest supplier of management for cruise operators, FTI Cruises can now focus more intently on their core business segments, including sales and marketing.

“V.Ships offers us excellent technical expertise as well as their economies of scale in purchasing. The company has a great know-how which will help us improve in this increasingly competitive environment,” explained Alexander Gessl, managing director. Aside from the entire technical operations of the ship, V.Ships Leisure will also be taking over the nautical, port planning, technical procurement, as well as the insurance areas for FTI Cruises.

“We are very happy to have won another large cruise operator as a customer with FTI Cruises. We want to build a mutually benefiting lasting relationship with our new customer with our high-quality services,” commented Per Bjornsen, commercial director of V.Ships Leisure.

The Berlin is currently undergoing a technical overhaul in Chalkida, Greece. She returns to service on March 29.
