Strong Holiday Season Bookings for Costa

Costa Cruises has confirmed the positive trend in its bookings for the coming holiday season.

The Christmas and New Year vacations offered by Europe’s biggest cruise company look like being a sell-out, according to a company statement.

The most popular itineraries continue to be seven-day cruises, though cruise passengers from different parts of Europe vary when it comes to their preferred destinations.

According to Costa:

Contrary to tradition, at Christmas time Italians like to go to exotic far-off places: alluring voyages to the Arab Emirates and Oman, notably on the Costa Fortuna or on the new “slow cruise” on the Costa neoRiviera, with short hops and long stops, featuring the unforgettable experience of a night under the desert sky.

The French prefer to get away altogether from the northern winter during the Christmas and New Year period and head for the total relaxation and warm sun of the tropics; what better way to do this than seven days sailing from Guadeloupe and calling each day at a splendid new island in the Caribbean: Antigua, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Santa Lucia, Grenada. The Caribbean also tops the Germans’ Christmas cruise shopping list.

As for short-range cruises, the Mediterranean is more than holding its own and remains the favorite itinerary for Spanish Christmas cruisers departing from Barcelona as well as for many Italians and Germans who are planning on starting the new year with a cruise sailing from Savona to France, Spain and the Balearic Islands.

About 2,100 Guests on the Costa Deliziosa will be ushering in the new year in real style: they are due to sail from Savona on January 6, 2014 on the trip of a lifetime – a Around-the-World Cruise. This is a unique 100-day westbound voyage circumnavigating the globe, embracing the wonders on five continents, with 38 different ports of call and some 380 excursions to choose from – among the highlights are superb destinations like Mexico, California, Hawaii, Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and India.
