Dominica has announced that it is inviting cruise ship passengers and crew members who call on the island to register for credit that can be applied to a return trip to the Nature Island. Dominica describes itself as “a spectacular green island of rugged mountains, lush rainforests and rushing rivers in the Eastern Caribbean.”

Each year, more than 200,000 cruise passengers and 100,000 crew members call on Dominica.

With a new Return & Win program, participants will receive a unique redemption code which is valid for $200 credit toward their next land-based vacation for a minimum five-night stay.

The program provides $100 credit towards a stay at one of the island’s certified properties, plus one of the following (each valued up to $100): Dinner at a local participating restaurant; tour to local attraction(s); One World Creole Music Festival season pass; passes to Carnival season events; or credit towards a vehicle rental (min. four days) from a participating rental company.

“The Return & Win program is our way of thanking cruise passengers for visiting Dominica and inviting them to come back for a longer stay,” explained Colin Piper, director of tourism. “Cruise visitors often say that their time in port isn’t nearly long enough to explore Dominica. With this cruise passenger offer, participants have the opportunity to return and receive on-island credit for their hotel stay and other activities.”

Cruise passengers and crew are invited to register for Return & Win at the Bay Front Visitor Information Office at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth during their time in port. Redemption codes are valid for two years after issue. The program is fully funded by Discover Dominica Authority through 2014. Plans are to continue the program beyond its introductory launch.

Dominica (pronounced Dom-in-EEK-a, and not to be confused with the Dominican Republic, according to a press statement) targets travelers seeking a unique vacation that includes: hiking and adventure, cultural events/festivals, diving and water sports, whale/dolphin watching and canyoning adventures. Dominica lies south of Guadeloupe and north of Martinique in the Eastern Caribbean. Air travelers can connect to Dominica on Air Sunshine, BVI Airways, LIAT or Seaborne Airlines from the surrounding hubs of Antigua, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, U.S. Virgin Islands and St. Lucia.
