As of May 16, Karl J. Pojer (58) will be the chief executive of Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten, a wholly owned subsidiary of TUI AG.
The hotel and marketing expert will take charge amongst others of the areas of Business Development, Operations, Marketing, Sales and Distribution, Product Management, Tourism as well as Corporate Communications. Dr Wolfgang Flägel (53) will remain in charge of the Finance, HR and IT divisions.

He will continue with the reorientation that has already started at Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten,“ said TUI chief executive Friedrich Joussen. The TUI AG Executive Board thanks Pojer for his many years of successful work at TUI Hotels & Resorts.
“I am pleased that after decades of working in the business and holiday hotel industry on land I can now apply my experience at sea. Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten is a strong brand full of tradition that we want to further develop in a careful way but in keeping with the times,“ said Pojer.
Karl J. Pojer has been with the TUI Group since 1996, where his first position was managing director of Robinson Club GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of TUI AG.
Since 2003 Karl J. Pojer has been in charge of the TUI Hotels & Resorts division, which manages the World of TUI hotel subsidiaries throughout the world. Currently with 248 hotels and 157,000 beds TUI Hotels & Resorts is the biggest holiday hotelier in Europe. In January 2006 Pojer was appointed head of the TUI Hotels & Resorts division at TUI AG.
Before joining TUI Karl J. Pojer had already gained an immense amount of experience at the top echelon of the international hotel business. After completing a specialist hotel study course in Austria he went on to work as a manager, general manager and regional director in the USA, France, Belgium, Portugal and Germany. Amongst other things Pojer worked for leading hotel companies such as Kempinski Hotels, Sheraton Hotels and Pestana Hotels, Resorts & Casinos.
Karl J. Pojer has moreover acquired experience in diplomatic service as a consul of Austria.
