The World Sails to Success at 6th Annual Celebration of Excellence Awards

Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway glistened against a magnificent sunset as guests of The World, Residences at Sea, boarded the M/V Midnight Sun for the company’s 6th annual Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony to honor its top port agents and travel partners from across the globe.

Elizabeth Shearin, Director Port Agency North America, accepted the Excellence in Service award on behalf of Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services at the exclusive reception held on Sunday, March 10th in Miami Beach. They were among only 10 companies worldwide honored for delivering superior, five-star service for the one-of-a-kind residential ship.

“I am delighted that Elizabeth and her team have been recognized for their hard work. At Intercruises we are dedicated to delivering a first class service, whether it is during turnarounds, shore excursions or, as on this occasion, port agency. The World has an incredibly high standard of service and receiving this award is a magnificent achievement and a proud moment for Intercruises.” Said Mark Robinson, Intercruises Managing Director.

“We’re a 24 by 7 company that requires 24 by 7 services from our vendors,” said The World’s President and CEO Tom McAlpin as he addressed guests. “Your impressive work ethic, positive attitudes and dedication to our business helps our team provide high quality unique experiences for Residents and guests that bring the destination alive. We appreciate your assistance which helps us deliver fascinating itineraries and destination experiences that perfectly capture the culture, history, habitat and traditions of each locale the ship visits all over the globe.”

Senior Vice President, Operations Alain Gruber spoke about luxury aboard The World. “Luxury means different things to different people,” he offered. “Luxury is having what you want when you want it without having to ask. For us, it’s about knowing our Resident’s personal preferences. It can be as simple as bringing them a hot cup of tea prepared exactly to their liking as they’re relaxing with a good book or letting them know that one of their favorite lecturers is returning. We understand what pleases our Residents without them having to ask. That’s the epitome of luxury.”

Companies recognized at this year’s Celebration of Excellence hailed from all corners of the world including French Polynesia, Canada, New Zealand and the U.S.
