Montreal Announces 28 Turnarounds for 2013 Season

The Port of Montreal expects 28 turnarounds this season, starting May 18 with Holland America Line’s Maasdam, sailing between Montreal and Boston. The Maasdam will turn around a total of 10 times during the summer.

In addition, the Seabourn Sojourn, Oceania’s Regatta, the Crystal Symphony, Silversea Whisper and AIDAbella are among the ships turning around during the fall.

Among new attractions is the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium and its high-tech immersion theaters, which opened April 19; the Grevin Museum, displaying over 120 wax figures of personalities, like President Obama, Einstein, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson and more; and Les Mosaicultures internationals, with living works in two and three dimensions, produced by horticultural artists.

Cruise passengers can discover the beauty of the St. Lawrence River and its tributaries on fishing excursions. Founded in 2012, this fishing service is the first of its kind in Old Montréal, offering a guaranteed fish catch and a unique way to view the city. And, during winter, the company offers ice fishing experiences with heated shelters and all the material necessary for the occasion.

Also recommend is a visit the Jean-Talon Market, said to be the largest outdoor public market in North America and a Mecca for foodies from near and far.

There is also the Montreal Science Center for all ages, and the Clocktower Beach to relax and unwind.

From June 28 to July 7, the 33rd edition of the Montréal International Jazz Festival will heat up the Quartier des spectacles. The complete program of this event will not be announced until later, but management has leaked that Liza Minelli will be on the bill, as well as bass-player Stanley Clark, singers Lila Downs and Melody Gardot, accordion-player Richard Galliano and the group Spectrum Road, just to name a few headliners.

And from June 6 to 9, Montreal is hosting the Canadian Grand Prix when the world of motorsports descends on the city.
