Maritime Security Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida

Maritime Security 2013 East Workshop and Exhibition takes place in St. Petersburg, Florida, April 15 to 17.

According to the organizers, the event will bring together public and private stakeholders from all backgrounds to discuss strategies and technologies in mitigating security threats posed to the maritime domain.

There will be workshop sessions highlighting available resources and best practices. The program will also showcase future technologies and programs that can enhance and/or offer new approaches to enhance maritime security.

The exhibition aspect will feature 50 companies displaying security solutions.
Topics to be discussed include: Engaging non-security stakeholders; advances in information sharing and communication; facility security and infrastructure protection; radiological and nuclear detection program implementation; counter-piracy measures, successes and challenges; and maritime security planning and funding.

Confirmed participants include the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate; the Dept. of Homeland Security Federal Law Enforcement Training Center; U.S. Customs and Border Protection Headquarters and Office of Air and Marine; the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Seventh District, First District, Sector St. Petersburg, Sector Boston; Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission; Tampa Police Dept. Marine Unit; Tampa Port Authority; Duke Energy; Battelle Memorial Institute; SRI International; Florida Trucking Association; and Long Beach FBI JTTF.
